1. Some Pitfalls To Avoid When Submitting Your Materials
DO NOT fax materials.
DO NOT send printouts of your copy. We do not re-type copy.
DO NOT send color photocopies of images
DO NOT email sound or multimedia files
DO NOT use foodstuffs or human hair to pack your materials.
(Just checking if you’re paying attention!)
2. Can I Send You Audio Files?
NO. We will only work with Audio CDs. This is because we optimize each
audio clip for the best sound delivery over the web for the most common
User connection speeds.
- DO NOT send your one and only Master!
- YOU MUST enclose your CDs in jewel cases. DO NOT use paper sleeves
or plastic Baggies!
- ATTN CD Demos & CDR Submitters: Track Order MUST be finalized!
Any changes resubmitted will be considered as additional work for
hire and incur additional charges.
- TIP: To insure the best audio quality possible, we strongly recommend
that your CD get Mastered Professionally before submitting any audio
Materials on CD.
- TIP: Be sure that any copies are burned onto blue-silver colored
media to ensure audio quality and avoid any clipping or dropouts,
which can add unnecessary noise to your recording. Burn speed can
be a factor, depending on your burner and the quality of media used.
If possible, try to burn at speeds 4x and lower.
3. Can You Use Pictures Off My Existing Web Site?
NO. We optimize all photos for the best color reproduction possible
across all computer platforms. Once an image is output to the Web is
it at a much lower resolution than scanned or printed photos. If we
need to manipulate any picture from a web site the quality will be degraded
in any new files created.
4. What File Formats Can You Work With?
4.1. Photo Scans
- Adobe Photoshop up to 6.0 (.psd)
- TIFF (.tif)
- Photoshop EPS (.eps) - with 8-bit TIFF preview
- Kodak Photo CD
- GIF
- JPG
DO NOT submit images inside a Microsoft Word
or other word processor document.
4.2. Layout Formats
- Adobe Photoshop up to 6.0 (.psd)
- Adobe Illustrator up to 9.0
- Macromedia FireWorks up to 4.0 (.png)
4.3. Fonts
We can accept either PostScript or TrueType fonts, although TrueType
can be quirky for Mac. For Mac, PostScript fonts will be a suitcase/screen
file with separate printer files for each (e.g. bold, italic, plain),
while TrueType will be a single suitcase. For PC, each TrueType font
will be a single .ttf file, while Postscript fonts consist of two
files, a .pfm and .pfb
4.4. Vector Art
- EPS (.eps) – with preview
- Illustrator (.ai)
4.5. Text
- Microsoft Word up to Word 2000 (text should be formatted with
no images)
- Rich Text Files (.rtf)
- ASCII/DOS text files (.txt)
ALL TEXT must be in one single document
5. I Want To Scan My Own Photos. What Resolution Do You Need?
If you have access to a scanner, you are welcome to scan your own photos
and submit them on a CDR. There are a few details that you must be aware
of when scanning photos for the web. If you are not familiar with any
of below formats or terminology, it would be faster for us to handle
all your scanning needs.
5.1. All color and grayscale images must be scanned at no less than
150 dpi.
5.2. DO NOT scan at a resolution more than 300 dpi as this will not
add any benefit to the quality of the output for the web.
5.3. DO NOT scan at a smaller size and then enlarge the photo. It
is always better to go from larger to smaller.
5.4. DO NOT scan at a lower resolution and then increase it in your
graphic editor. This is not a shortcut to scanning within the correct
resolution range. Photo editing software cannot invent pixels that
were never present in the image to begin with.
· Save your scans as either .TIF or Photoshop .PSD files. Avoid
using .BMP, .JPG, .GIF files as they can degrade the quality. Even
though the .JPG and .GIF formats were created for the web, we like
to work with higher resolution scans to create the best possible output
for the Web. If you use .EPS files, be sure to save the image with
an 8-bit TIFF preview.
6. How Can I Send You My Digital Artwork?

- CD-R – either Mac or PC formats.
- Iomega ZIP100MB – Mac or PC formatted.
DO NOT email any artwork
DO NOT send materials on CDRWs
DO NOT send materials on 3.5 Floppies
